Fall is like spring to me: My love for fall

Introduction

The title is a little confusing. But let me explain... For nature, spring is a rejuvenation. The flowers are coming out of hibernation from winter, and they are in full bloom. I am the same way except when it's fall.

To me, summer is when I hibernate; if you've read my other posts, you know how hard I find summer break as a student. Not only that, but this summer has been especially hard on me because I am in my senior year of high school, and after this year everything will change.

Summer is my hibernation. I stay in my room all day; I miss school, and I just sit and think about how fun school and the fall are going to be. And then when fall comes, I am at my prime.

A Rory Gilmore fall

Autumn trees with vivid red and orange leaves fill the background. The text "Gilmore girls" is centered in a classic font.

First semester, also known as fall semester, is the best semester. As a student, you just had a long 2-month break from schoolwork, and your mind is fresh. You're ready to learn, set new habits, and basically just be Rory Gilmore.

Not only do I perform best academically, but all the fun things happen first semester: the start of a new year, football games, homecoming, senior sunrise, Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc. And even the bad things in the fall semester aren't actually that bad. Think about it: we have finals, but at least they're not AP exams. So it may be finals, but they're actually not that hard. And you don't even really care because you have Christmas and New Year's right around the corner.

Girl in school uniform sits on a bench, reading "Sylvia Plath" book. Autumn leaves and a tree in the park background; focused mood.

And what goes most with fall? Reading. The prime time to read is during fall. What better way to spend your time than snuggled up in a blanket with leaves falling outside, listening to The Smiths? I personally can't think of anything better.

And let's say you're not up to reading; you just had a long day at school & work, and you just don't want to do anything. So what do you do? You pick up your Nintendo Switch and play Animal Crossing: New Horizons, set in the fall. The trees are orange, pumpkins are sprouting, and acorns & pinecones are falling from the trees. A relaxing game with a relaxing environment.

The best of nature

Winding road through vibrant autumn trees with red, orange, and yellow leaves under a clear blue sky, evoking a serene, natural scene.

And best of all, no gnats, no pollen. Just the rustle of leaves and birds chirping. The weather is finally at the perfect temperature, not too cold, not too hot. You can comfortably sit outside and read your book in amazing weather. You're not sweating and looking like a bright red tomato, but you're also not so cold that your teeth are chattering. It's just right. Goldilocks would be in love.

The best fits

Everything about fall is perfect. And what do I love, other than fall? Fashion and dressing up. The outfits and pieces are 10/10 during this season. Everything is cozy but fashionable. Knit sweaters, lacy socks, plaid, and earthy tones. What more could you ask for?

Media in the fall

Some media portrays fall just right. The first one is Charlie Brown. I love Snoopy and Charlie Brown. So when they incorporate another thing I love, like Halloween or Thanksgiving, I feel fulfilled. Like all my dreams and wishes have been granted.

Two children in a pumpkin patch; one lifts a pumpkin, the other smiles. Leaves cover the ground. Red sun sets against a pink sky and fence.

Another great portrayal of fall is social media. The sounds, songs, and aesthetics around fall are chef's kiss. Just a simple search on Pinterest, and I'm falling head over heels for fall.

With that being said...

With that being said... one thing that's been rubbing me the wrong way about fall is the overconsumption. I'm seeing video after video about all these things that people are buying for fall. Fall comes every year, so why are you buying new things for something that happens yearly? It's like buying all your Christmas decorations every year. I don't know about you, but my family reuses the same Christmas decorations year after year. So why not do the same for fall?

Conclusion

I hope you enjoyed this little rant/appreciation post for fall. I know I sure did, as you can probably tell. I hope you all have a great fall season!
