Sterling point and my cravings for true love

I just binged Sterling Point on Prime Video in like 24 hours. Sterling Point follows Annie, who decides to visit a remote Canadian island she recently inherited from her late grandfather. There's this love triangle between Rory, Ellis, and Annie. The way Annie loves Ellis is so tender and sweet and real. He's there for her. She's there for him. It's not dramatic or toxic or complicated. It's just... good. And I think that's a really great example of what love should actually look like. So naturally, I finished the series and started obsessing over all this.
And I think that's the thing. We don't really see that kind of love represented a lot. It's always the push and pull, the enemies to lovers, the almost relationship that never quite gets there. But Sterling Point gives you something more tender and sweet.
Because I think a lot of people are walking around wanting that kind of love, a secure one that doesn't have a bunch of drama. It's not even about wanting a relationship for the sake of having one. It's about wanting someone who actually gets you. Someone you can let into your little world, and who lets you into theirs. Someone who's there when you cry, and you're there when they cry. I think, at its core, we want someone who will see us the way we see ourselves.
This reminds me of a quote by Frank Ocean that says, "Someone loves everything you hate about you." We are desperately searching for that someone. Someone who sees our flaws and chooses to stay with us anyway.
But I think the issue that we stumble across is: when is it going to be my turn? I feel like I'm a character in a movie. I am currently living and going through all the character buildup for when the movie begins. But when does the movie actually start?
I think we all want this deep connection. But at least for me, I would rather be single than date someone that I don't actually like or don't think I'll be able to build that kind of connection. And so I guess in the meantime... I will just wait and hope that people are right when they say, "Love comes when you least expect it."
