Introduction
A couple days ago, I was on the internet, and I stumbled upon a video mentioning a zine. I was intrigued, so I went to Google to learn more about it. This prompted me to spend an hour researching different kinds of zines, what a zine is, and how to create one.
If you are interested in creating your own zine, be sure to check out the guide I wrote on zines!
Planning
First, I had to decide what I was going to write about for my zine. When I thought about the things I enjoyed, music was the first to come to mind. I then made the decision to create a zine about my favorite singers. But I had no idea who to choose, so I made a list of every singer I typically listen to. I had a few in mind, but I was only able to limit it to three.
I planned out what I would say on each page in order to determine the number of pages I would use. After doing so, I realized that, excluding the front and back covers, I needed 10 pages.
Design
I knew that my zine would include pictures, but I was unsure of how large the images should be. I therefore chose to open a Google Slide and resize it to fit the piece of paper I intended to print it on. I chose to split it into four parts because I knew that each section would be the size of one page. From there, I was able to estimate the size of the images I wanted, select Insert the Photos, and organize them so they would all fit on one page.
My zine
Make sure to select the expand option if you want to see every page in its entirety so that nothing is cropped out.
Conclusion
Making a zine is something I highly recommend to anyone looking to do a project that is hands-on, have fun, and express their creativity.
